in what I say, then let thosewho would be only too pleased to show me to be in error, comeforward and do so. For my own part I am willing to assist anyman living (except my opponent in the Avicultnral Magazine)in any bacteriological examination of anj cage bird whichappears to have tuberculosis, and, as Dr. Snell plainly shews,it will then be a simple matter for him to get at the truth. Butto misrepresent mj^ position, and then to travesty the words ofa distinguished author, as has been recently done, in order to prove that my position, (the one they themselves havemade for me), is wrong, is hardly what one expects amongpeople who would like to be thought scientific, and the valueof their claims in this direction may easily be gauged. I writethus plainly because I have heard that my exposure of myopponents methods amounts to abuse. I differ in this; and Iventure to say that on reflection most people will agree withme that I am perfectly justified in all I have said. W. Geo. Creswell.

Mr. WILSONS PENNANTS. 251 ^be BreeDiitG of I>ennant5 iparral^eets (Platycercns elegansj,WITH SPECIAL refp:rence to the coi, ouring oe their YOUNG.By T. N. W11.SON, M.A. IN the autumn of 1903 I saw in one of the bigdealers shops in the Kast Kud of London abouttwenty Pennants Parrakeets, newly imported. The majority were in one of those large boxcages familiar in such shops, but a few were in pairs inseparate cages. I noticed that these supposed pairsconsisted in every case of one bird in adult, and theother in immature plumage, and the dealers wife saidthat the greenish or immature birds were the hens.I pointed out that although they might be hens, theirplumage showed, not their sex, but their age. Thelady paid no attention to my remarks and evidentlythought that I knew nothing about the matter. I con-fess that my knowledge of Pennants was not great, and was not at that time even first-hand, as, althoughI have been an aviculturist since the seventies, I hadnever possessed any of these
