Summary edit
| Description | The interior of the former Birdsisle House, when it was in use as a school. It was converted around 1897 by Joseph Robert Diggle J.P., and re-named St Michael's Grange. It was purchased by headmaster H.F. Varley during World War I, and became Asheton Grange School, for boys aged 8 to 18. The school closed in 1930. It became a rehabilitation home for unemployed men, then a home for children with special needs. The building was destroyed by a German bomb in 1940, and a smaller building now stands in its place. | ||||
