Artist |
Þórarinn B. Þorláksson (1867-1924) I know that Þórarinn was the artist because it says so on a plaque right next to the painting. The plaque also says that the portrait was a gift from the University of Iceland (to the National Library?) in 1994. |
Title |
Portrait of Björn M. Ólsen (1850-1919) |
Description |
A portrait of Professor Björn M. Ólsen |
Date | I don't know when the painting was made. Björn M. Ólsen was born on July 14, 1850 and died on January 16, 1919. Þórarinn B. Þorláksson was born on February 14, 1867 and died on July 10, 1924. At a guess I'd say this was painted in the 1910's |
Collection | Icelandic National Library |
Source/Photographer | I (Haukur) took a photograph of this portrait today (May 16, 2008) at the Icelandic National Library. It's currently downstairs by the clothes' hangar near the manuscript department. |
