Bléré (Indre-et-Loire)

Le moulin des Aigremonts.

Situé sur le plateau sud de la ville de Bléré, au lieu dit "Les Aigremonts", ce moulin cavier* a été construit entre 1845 et 1848 par Jacques Bergeault. Confronté à la concurrence de nombreux moulins à eau, la durée d'utilisation fut assez courte, puisque le moulin s'arrêta en 1877.

  • Moulin cavier : Le moulin cavier, caractéristique de l’Anjou, est attesté dès le XVIe siècle. Il est constitué de trois parties :

- La masse, composée des caves avec les meules au centre de la chambre.

- Le massereau, tour conique qui renferme le pivot.

- La “ hucherolle ” ou cabine, pivotante, qui abrite le mécanisme des ailes.

The Aigremonts windmill

The mill has been restored to its original design of the 1840s on a base of local white stone. It is 45 feet high and the upper part, the tower which supports the wings and rotates, weighs 12 tons. You have the possibility to follow guided tours in summer.
