Français : Orsières porte d'anciennes armoiries parlantes car son nom dérive du vieux français "orsière, oursière" signifiant tanière ou lieu hanté par des ours. Les premières armes connues sont gravées sur le thaler de 1498 et la Chronique de Stumpf reproduit ces armes en 1548.
