DescriptionBoatswain piping.jpg |
English: Misawa, Japan (May 16, 2003) -- Boatswain's Mate 2nd Class Henry S. Peek from Canyon Lake, Texas, pipes the official party aboard during a change of command ceremony for Patrol Squadron Nine (VP-9). The boatswain's pipe is a historical tradition still used throughout the fleet today. Different tunes mean different messages, which every Sailor understands. VP-9 is homeported at Marine Corps Air Station Kaneohe, Hawaii, and is currently on a routine deployment to Misawa, Japan. |
