Summary edit

Description
English: Bomber Decoy Command Bunker. A close up of the building in 1161081.

I seem to remember reading that this building was a Bomber Decoy Command Bunker similar to the one on Hutton Moor 11410.

During the Second World War this bunker housed RAF personnel who maintained an extensive system of ditches filled with oily rags which covered about four acres on the slope below the bunker. When radar reports came in of approaching German bombers aiming for industrial Teesside the oily rags were electrically ignited to trick the bomber crew into dropping their load on the largely unpopulated moors.
