The final role of my high school acting career was a bit of a disappointment to me — I played Lord Growlie. Lord who you say? My point exactly. Lord Growlie is the guy who introduces Dorothy and company to the Wizard of Oz. My costume was somewhat ridiculous, but I made the best of it. Note the Big Country badge. Note also the magenta pants which I supplied from my own personal wardrobe. Yes, in the 80s a straight teenage boy could have a pair of pink pants. I think it was kind of cool. I thought I looked kind of Bowiesque in this getup. Maybe it was the makeup. Greenwood, 1985 |
