Deutsch: Vorderseite: CARL AUGUST - UND LUISE. Die Büsten von Carl August und Luise in antikem Gewande nach rechts.

Rückseite: GOETHEN. Büste Johann Wolfgang von Goethes nach links, zu beiden Seiten ein Lorbeerzweig. Unten am Halsabschnitt die Medailleursignatur BRANDT F.

Kommentar: Die Medaille wurde Goethe von Großherzog Carl August und seiner Gemahlin Luise (Louise) gewidmet. Bei dieser Version handelt es sich um die verworfene Fassung der Jubiläumsmedaille. 1826 wurde eine neue Medaille geprägt, die geänderte Porträts ohne Umschriften zeigt. Luise von Hessen-Darmstadt war 1757 in Berlin als Tochter von Ludwig IX. von Hessen-Darmstadt und Henriette Karoline von Zweibrücken geboren worden. Sie heiratete 1775 Carl August von Sachsen-Weimar.
