English: Gunnery Sgt. Matthew Bateman, the Headquarters & Headquarters Squadron explosive ordnance disposal operations chief and a native of San Gabriel, Calif., exits a makeshift laboratory during a training exercise conducted at Marine Corps Air Station Yuma, Ariz., Nov. 12. Acting as the scenarios first responder, Bateman wore a lightweight Tychem-F chemical protective suit, a component of EOD’s CBRN (chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear) tool kit, underneath the EOD-9 bomb suit to enter the scene and determine the best course of action to neutralize the simulated threat. |
