English: Brian Easterling, right, a firefighter with the U.S. Air Force's 96th Test Wing, extracts a simulated injured F-35 Lightning II aircraft pilot during a major accident response exercise (MARE) at Eglin Air Force Base (AFB), Fla., May 9, 2013. This was the first MARE at Eglin AFB involving the Air Force's newest fighter aircraft. As part of the MARE, first responders had to put out fires after a hard landing and extract the simulated injured pilot for immediate medical attention. |
