| Description |
English: Bridge 140, Lancaster Canal. This bridge carries a farm track over the 5th lock in the series at Tewitfield, long since converted to a weir.
The weir is flowing, although the lock pounds are frozen over. The canal north of Tewitfield fell into disuse, and its fate was presumed to be sealed when the M6 was built. There are now plans to reopen the Northern Reaches. See 6438 & 6441. |
