| Description |
English: Bridge to Nowhere This bridge carries a road, but there is no way to drive to it as it has been completely surrounded by Kirkintilloch Golf Course. No roadway can be ascertained in maps subsequent to 1930, so for much of its life, its reason for being there has been superfluous. Formerly part of the Kelvin Valley Railway which ran from Maryhill (outside Glasgow) to Kilsyth, the footpath diverts from the main route to go all round the course's northern perimeter before rejoining the original track alignment at Birdston. It seems golfers do not appreciate walkers along the fairway! |
