U.S. Engineer Office photograph of the the Wabash Bridge. The photograph shows part of the bridge as it crosses above the Monongahela Wharf. The Wabash-Pittsburg Terminal Railway crossed the river through the Mount Washington Tunnel from Ohio, over the bridge into downtown Pittsburgh, terminating the journey at the Wabash Terminal. The terminal consisted of a six-track 450 foot long wooden trainshed and a spectacular passenger station on Liberty Avenue. The bridge was taken down in 1948, though its massive piers still stand.
