English: Top for a Stool (Agba)
Description
English: Carved rectangular board of hard wood. In center a man holding ebere and a bifurcated scepture, ending in clenched hands. Tunic and winged headdress of coral beads. At left of figure a synthesis of snake with fins or leaves comming from body. To right, a beaker, a leopard, a bottle with handle; at each corner a strip ornamented with three rosettes. Through each rosette is a wood dowel. Two grooves excavated at the back to attach to panels (now missing) which would form the legs of the stool.
