Summary edit

Description
English: Brynddu - the home of Squire William Bwcle (Bulkeley) William Bwcle is remembered largely because of his acerbic diaries which give a vivid picture of life in 18thC North Anglesey. He was a man with an attitude, regarded by many at the time, including his kinsman, Parson Bulkeley, the vicar of Llanfechell, who is pilloried mercilessly in the diaries, as a difficult man. William also gave vent in the diaries to his fury over his daughter Mary's marriage to the Scouse brewer, wide-boy and sea-pirate, Fortunatus Wright. In 1738, Fortunatus came to an unfortunate end while on a working vacation in the Med. Grandad to his chagrin was left to bring up the children of the marriage.
