The Buchan Caves are a group of limestone caves that include the Royal Cave and the Fairy Cave, located south-west of Buchan, Victoria Australia

Summary edit

Description
English: Buchan Caves are formed in 380 million year old limestone that was laid down when the area was covered by a shallow sea. Fossilised sea creatures are visible embedded in the walls of the caves.

The caves include almost four kilometers of underground passages and chambers leading to six entrances. Local wildlife includes lyrebirds, boobook owls, king parrots and brush-tailed possums.

The district was set aside as a stock reserve in 1887 and the caves were opened for visitors in 1907.
