Bueil-en-Touraine (Indre-et-Loire)

Collégiale Saint-Pierre, Saint-Michel et Saints-Innocents (XIIe, XIVe, XVe, XVIe siècles)


Gisant de Jeanne de Montejean(† vers 1450), la première femme de Jean V de Bueil (XVe siècle).

Les détails du costume, le haut bonnet, le surcot (Le surcot, a été en usage pendant tout le XVe siècle) bordé d'hermine, qui moule le buste, la finesse de la sculpture, indiquent le règne de Charles VII (XVe siècle) . Les armoiries sculptées et peintes sur la robe ne laissent aucun doute sur l'identité du personnage; c'est bien celle de Jeanne de Montejean, décédée en 1456.

Peu dégradée, la statue a conservé intacts sa gracieuse tête de marbre, sa curieuse coiffure et les deux chiens croisés sur lesquels s'appuient ses pieds.
