DescriptionBuilding at the corner of King Street and Friars Street, Stirling (28498498942).jpg |
The Bank of Scotland moved into this building in 1776. The site was formerly occupied by the Saracens Head Inn. At the time King Street was called Quality Street and Friars Street was called Friars Wynd. In about 1840 the bank moved to a purpose-built property lower down King Street. As indicated by the town plan of 1858, the Royal Bank took over the building after the Bank of Scotland had moved. By the second half of the twentieth century both banks had moved away from their premises in King Street.
