1H3 THE TURTLE-DOVE. Turtur comnumis Selby. The earliest records o£ the arrival of this species were receivedfrom Kent on the 24th and 25th of April and from Berkshireon the 27th. Durino- the first days of May a few stragglerswere recorded from the south-eastern counties, but it was notuntil the 5th of May that Turtle-Doves began to arrive inany numbers. At this period most of the birds appear tohave landed on the south-eastern coast and to have passedrapidly inland. From Cambridge, Norfolk, Lincoln andWorcester arrivals were reported on the 6th of May, fromWilts and Somerset on the 7th, from Herts and Dorset onthe 9th, from Derby on the 10th, and from Bucks, Denbighand Yorkshire on the 11th, while there was an increase inSuffolk and Essex on the 10th. A further immigration was recorded from Kent, Essexand Hants on the 11th, and the next day an increase wasnoted in Suftblk, and the first few birds were recorded fromLeicester and Staffordshire.
