Description

This branch known as the Wieslauterbahn runs from Hinterweidenthal Ost (on the Landau to Pirmasens line) to Bundenthal-Rumbach close to the French border. Originally it lost its passenger services in 1966, it was kept open by occasional freight trains. In 2001 seasonal weekend trains began, operated by DB Regio with track maintenance being tendered out.

Seen here at the end of the line on 18 May 2003 is unit 628.233 on train RB23891,11:00 Bundenthal-Rumbach to Hinterweidenthal Ost.
