An aircraft of the defense troops, this picture shows Bruno Büchner's prewar Otto pusher biplane flying over the savanna of German East Afrika. Piloting the plane is either Büchner himself or lieutenant Henneberge. (Dobbertin's caption for this photo reads 'waterplane'. A reference to the fact that Büchner would later equip this aircraft with floats.)
