ADN-ZB/Thieme 9.11.89 Bez. Karl-Marx-Stadt: Kfz-Forschung An der Technischen Hochschule (TH) Zwickau besteht seit 20 Jahren die einzige Sektion Kraftfahrzeugtechnik der DDR mit Lehre und Forschung in vier Wissenschaftsbereichen. Obwohl sie jahrelang mehr oder weniger "ins Leere" denken mußten, entwickeln die Forscher mit Engagement neue Ideen, unter anderem zum Karosseriebau, wo der allergrößte Rückstand aufzuholen ist. Dr. sc.techn. Peter Gärtner, Dr. Ing. Horst Richter und Prof. Dr. Volkmar Küntscher (v.l.n.r.) demonstrieren hier strömungsoptimierte Karosseriemodelle für Kleinwagen.

Die fertige Konstruktion des DDR-Autos der Zukunft können die Zwickauer Wissenschaftler noch nicht "aus der Schublade ziehen". Nach Wiederherstellung der Einheit von neuer Konstruktion und technologischer Innovation in den Produzentenbetrieben hätten auch alle bereits vorliegenden Vorschläge der Theoretiker - moderne Fahrwerke, umweltfreundliche Gemischbildungssysteme, Tests zum Geräuschverhalten und anderes - bessere Realisierungschancen.
