Ein neuer Beruf, der eine Folge des Bombenkrieges sein dürfte, ist der Beruf des Wasserspürers. Im Geschäftsjahr 1948 hatten die Hamburger Wasserwerke einen Schwund von 28,8 Millionen cbm Wasser, d. s. 26% der Jahresmenge, der durch schadhafte Rohre besonders in den Trümmergegenden hervorgerufen wird. Hamburg, Water detector at work

A new profession, which would be a consequence of the bombing war, is that of the water detector. In fiscal year 1948, the Hamburg Water Works had a loss of 28.8 million cubic meters of water, i.e. 26% of the annual supply, caused by damaged pipes, especially in areas damaged by bombing.
