Zentralbild/Gezo 30.4.1957 Nordhessischer Kupferschieferbergbau - ein Opfer der Bonner Spaltungspolitik Das Kreisgebiet Eschwege mit seinen 44 Gemeinden und 15 000 mit dem Bergbau verbundenen Menschen ist durch die Politik der Bundesrepublik und der Gewaltherrschaft der amerikanischen Besatzungsmacht zum Notstandsgebiet geworden. Das Gebiet des "Kurhessischen Kupferschieferbergbaues" wurde durch die Spaltung Deutschlands vom Stammwerk in Eisleben (DDR), dem Mansfelder Kupferbergwerk, getrennt. Die amerikanische Besatzungsmacht ordnete die Demontage von 2 Hochöfen an und somit wurde der Bergbau im Zonengrenzgebiet unrentabel, und viele Bergarbeiter verloren ihre Arbeit. Die hilfreiche Hand der Direktion des Manfelder Bergbaues wurde von der Adenauer-Regierung zurückgewiesen und damit die gesamte nordhessische Kupferschieferproduktion liquidiert.
