For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme. Zentralbild Link 3.7.1967 Urlaubsreisen mit der "Fritz Heckert" nach Leningrad. 368 Bürger der Deutschen Demokratischen Republik - von der Hausfrau, der Geflügelzüchterin, dem Neuerer, der Ärztin bis zum Vorsitzenden einer Landwirtschaftlichen Produktionsgenossenschaft - unternahmen im Jahr des Roten Oktober (50. Jahrestag der Oktoberrevolution) eine 13tätige Urlaubsreise des Freien Deutschen Gewerkschaftsbundes mit dem Turbinenmotorschiff "Fritz Heckert" nach Leningrad, der Wiege der sozialistischen Revolution. Im zweiten Weltkrieg erlebte Leningrad durch die 900 Tage dauernde Belagerung der Faschisten (1942-44) die Schwersten Jahre seiner Geschichte. Aus Ruinen wieder auferstanden ist die Newastadt heute Anziehungspunkt für Touristen aus aller Welt. Erholsame aber auch abwechslungsreiche Stunden an Bord und erlebnisreiche Tage in den Städten Gdynia, Sopot, Gdansk und Riga werden den Urlaubern in unvergeßlicher Erinnerung bleiben. Herzlich begrüßt wurden von Schülern einer Rigaer Mittelschule die DDR-Urlauber bei ihrer Ankunft am Passagierkai von Riga, der Hauptstadt der Lettischen SSR. |
