Description

6" scale (1:2) traction engine. This is a Burell single crank compound, showing the four bar crosshead with a single connecting rod, and with two piston rods to the two cylinders. The HP cylinder is diagonally above the LP cylinder, to reduce overall height. Its piston rod and stuffing box can be seen clearly. The LP piston rod is below the crosshead.
