Description

Busto de Francisco Eduardo de Barahona Fragoso (1843-1905), opulento lavrador alentejano, homem de arte e da cultura e grande benemérito da cidade de Évora.

Em 25 de Janeiro de 1908, com grande participação da população, foi inaugurado o monumento, da autoria do escultor Simões de Almeida (sobrinho) e do arquitecto Alfredo Costa Campos. Além do busto, o monumento integra, como símbolo principal, a figura de Liberalitas Júlia, personificação da designação romana de Évora. Nele se lê: Ao / Dr. Barahona / por / Subscrição Pública / 1908; e ÉVORA RECONHECIDA.
