Description
Русский: Смоленская Корнилиевская церковь до реставрации, трапезная. Переславль, улица Мира. До XVIII века принадлежала Борисоглебскому Песоцкому монастырю. Слева видна каменная рамка вокруг могилы лжесвятого монаха Корнилия молчальника. Считалось, что если освятить детскую рубашку на могиле Корнилия, а потом надеть её на ребёнка, то на девятый день ребёнок выздоровеет или умрёт. Множество детей умерло, потому что их матери отвергали лечение и обращались к церковной выдумке.
English: Theotokos of Smolensk church before the restoration, the refectory. Pereslavl, Peace street. Up to the XVIII century belonged to Borisoglebsky Pesotsky monastery. On the left is visible frame around the stone grave of falsely saint Silent Monk Cornelius. It was believed that if a child's shirt is sanctified on Cornelius grave, and then is put on the child, on the ninth day the child will recover or die. Many children died because their mothers denied medical treatment and appealed to the ecclesiastical fiction.
