From a manuscript copy ofShanghan diandian jin shu(The Gold-dust Book of Cold Damage) dated '1st year of the Zhengyuan reign period of the Yuan dynasty' (1341), section entitledShanghan diandian jin yongyao muji(Cold Damage Gold-Dust Repertory of Medication).The text states: For the treatment of heatstroke (zhongshu) conditions, common prescriptions are: White Tiger decoction (baihu tang), Five-Drug powder (wu ling san), bamboo leaf decoction, tangerine peel decoction (jupi tang), etc.For the treatment of damp-warm (shi wen) diseases, common prescriptions are: White Tiger decoction (baihu tang) with atractylodes (cangzhu), etc.For the treatment of warm diseases (wen bing), common prescriptions are Muscle-Releasing cohosh decoction (shengma jieji tang), Minor Bupleurum Decoction (xiao chaihu tang), bamboo leaf decoction, Great Blue-Green Dragon decoction (da qinglong tang), etc.For the treatment of warm agues (wen nüebing), common prescriptions are Minor Bupleurum decoction (xiao chaihu tang), Five-Drug powder (wu ling san), Mother-of-Ague pills (nüemu wan), White Tiger decoction (baihu tang), Surpassing-Gold pills (sheng jin wan), etc.For the treatment of wind-warm diseases (feng wen bing), common prescriptions are ginger flower decoction (jiangrui tang), anemarrhena and arrowroot decoction (zhimu ge gen tang), decoction of tricosanthes root (gualougen tang), stephania tetrandra decoction (han fangji tang), etc.
