English: SOUTH CHINA SEA (June 28, 2009) From left, Royal Malaysian Navy Capt. Halim Bin Maulud, Commodore William Kearns III, Commander, Task Group 73.5, and Malaysian Army Col. Stephen Mundaw watch a surface gunnery exercise from the bridge wing of the dock landing ship USS Harpers Ferry (LSD 49). Members of the Malaysian Armed Forces are aboard Harpers Ferry for the at-sea phase of Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training (CARAT) Malaysia 2009. CARAT is a series of bilateral exercises held annually in Southeast Asia to strengthen relationships and enhance the operational readiness of the participating forces.
