English: Comissão de Constituição, Justiça e Cidadania (CCJ) realiza sabatina do ex-advogado-geral da União, indicado à vaga no Supremo Tribunal Federal (STF), decorrente da aposentadoria do ministro Marco Aurélio Mello.

Indicado para exercer o cargo de ministro do Supremo Tribunal Federal (STF), André Luiz de Almeida Mendonça, pede desculpas por ter dito que "talvez a democracia não tivesse custado vidas”. Ele diz ter sido mal interpretado e afirma que sua citação não condiz com seu pensamento.

— A construção da nossa democracia custou, sim, muitas vidas. Eu me lembro da luta pela libertação dos escravos, as lutas pelas garantias dos direitos das mulheres, as lutas pelo direito ao voto e todos aqueles que ao longo da nossa história têm lutado pela construção da nossa democracia e o Estado democrático de direito — justifica.
