Summary edit

Description

On Saturday, May 25, The U.S. Army Blues performed as part of the Library of Congress Concert Series, held at the Atlas Theater in Washington, DC. The final concert in a mini residency by the famed American composer John Adams, the Blues highlighted music from the Great American Songbook, with an emphasis on songs performed by Anita O'Day and arrangements by Tommy Newsom. John Adams took an opportunity to address the audience to talk about his grandfather, a dance hall owner in New Hampshire in the 1940s - 50s, and how as a child he had the chance to hear the great big bands of the time.
