Nederlands: De kruik wordt meestal gebruikt voor het bewaren van olie of andere voedingsmiddelen.
De haardracht en de gelaatsvorm zijn kenmerkend voor Azande kruiken. Vermoedelijk waren de Azande eerder bekend met het gebruik van de figuurkruik dan de Mangbetu, wiens portretkruiken beroemd geworden zijn. Volgens Maesen (1960) zouden bij de Mangbetu dit soort kruiken van recentere datum zijn. Dit gegeven maakt van deze kruik een zeldzaam exemplaar. |
