Nederlands: Negatief. Beroemder en groter dan die van de Kloet was natuurlijk de eruptie van de Krakatau (1883), gelegen in de zeestraat tussen Java en Sumatra. De meeste schade werd toen veroorzaakt door een enorme vloedgolf die het gevolg was van de uitbarsting van de vulkaan. In een vrij vroeg stadium leefde onder wetenschappers de wens om de restanten van Krakatau, Anak [=kind] Krakatau geheten, in de gaten te houden. Dat gebeurde vanuit de observatiepost op de foto. We zijn dan ook zeer goed op de hoogte van de ontwikkeling van de vulkaan na de grote uitbarsting. (P. Boomgaard, 2001).
