Nederlands: Negatief. De foto laat een warong zien van een iets steviger type dan die in Batavia (00027087). Te oordelen naar de producten die te koop worden aangeboden, is hier flink geïnvesteerd. Het is goed om eraan herinnerd te worden dat niet alle inheemse bewoners van Java minvermogend waren en dat er onder hen ook neringdoende middenstand was van (kleine) winkeliers, handelaars en ambachtslieden. Wat overigens niet wegneemt dat het aantal warongs in tijden van crisis vaak toeneemt bij gebrek aan alternatieven. In dat geval is zo'n toename natuurlijk een slecht teken.
