Bahasa Indonesia: Pemandangan ke arah Banda Neira, dengan latar belakang Pulau Gunung Api. Lokasi:Kepulauan Banda.
Nederlands: Foto. Er loopt een gordel van vulkanen van Sumatra in het westen over Java en de Kleine Soenda Eilanden naar de Molukken en Noord-Celebes in het oosten. De streken waar de vulkanen zich bevinden, zijn vaak dichtbevolkt. De grond is daar namelijk zeer vruchtbaar door de stoffen die de vulkaan uitstoot. Op de langere termijn was (en is) de nabijheid van een vulkaan dus een voordeel. Op de korte termijn echter kon een vulkaanuitbarsting leiden tot grote aantallen doden en de vernietiging van het te velde staande gewas. Zo zorgde de Goenoeng Api (letterlijk: vuurberg) bij Banda zowel voor een goede grond voor de nootmuskaat als voor oogstmislukkingen. (P. Boomgaard, 2001). Gezicht over Bandanaira en de Gunung Api |
