Nederlands: Negatief. Zeevisserij was in handen van specialisten. Het vissen in rivieren en meren werd door iedereen bedreven. Veel mensen beschikten over een net, een lijn en/of een harpoen, die allemaal van plaatselijk beschikbaar materiaal gemaakt konden worden. Middels dit soort zelfvoorzieningsvisserij voorzagen veel bewoners van Borneo in hun eiwitbehoefte. Men vond echter ook onder de vissers in het binnenland groepen specialisten die voor de markt werkten. Al rond 1600 exporteerde Bandjermasin gedroogde zoetwatervis uit het binnenland. Het vissersdorp op de foto schijnt een Chinese naam te hebben. Chinese vissers in de Archipel waren niet uitzonderlijk. De visserij van Bagan Si Api-Api op Sumatra was zelfs geheel in hun handen. (P.
