Nederlands: Beeld. Rati is de gemalin van de liefdesgod Kama, die onder de namen Ratih en Imara bij de Baliers bekend staat en ongeveer op dezelfde wijze gedacht wordt als de schone prinsen en prinsessen uit de romatische verhalen die, evenals zij, worden uitgebeeld met de blauw-gele huidskleur, loshangende haren, gouden oorknoppen, met edelstenen bezette pols- bovenarmbanden. Behalve de kemben (heupdoek), die door de buikband wordt vastgebonden, draagt Ratih de bapang, een kleedje dat in twee kragen van de schouders op de bovenarmen afhangt. Deze godin van de liefde stelt men zich eigenlijk niet anders voor dan een Balinese danseres. De vervaardiger heeft getracht dit beeld een sensuele uitdrukking te geven. Intussen blijkt uit de rijke hoofdbedekking, de versierselen boven de schouders en de met edelstenen bezette banden om de kleren, het hemelse karakter van deze liefdesgodin.
Dit beeld behoort tot een groep van 28 beelden (15-156 t/m 15-182b), gezamenlijk een pantheon van Balinese godheden vormend, dat getoond werd op de Nederlandse koloniale afdeling op de wereldtentoonstelling te Parijs in 1900. Speciaal voor deze tentoonstelling heeft C.M. Pleyte, conservator van 's Rijks Etnografisch Museum in Leiden, deze beelden op Bali laten vervaardigen. Met behulp van enkele priesters selecteerde hij de relevante beelden die vervolgens door Balinese houtsnijders werden nagemaakt. . Houten beeld van de godin Rati |
