Nederlands: Negatief. Na 1500 wordt de islam op Java steeds invloedrijker en in de loop van de 16e eeuw worden de meeste steden en staten islamitisch. Dit wordt gesymboliseerd door de val van de Majapahit door toedoen van moslims in of rond 1527. Langs de noordkust van Midden-Java kwam een aantal islamitische stadstaten op die hun macht en aanzien voor een groot deel op handel baseerden. De meest succesvolle stadstaat was Demak. Het ontwikkelde zich gedurende korte tijd tot een territoriale staat van belang in Midden-Java. Daarnaast speelden ook Jepara, Pati (foto), Koedoes, Toeban, Grissee en Soerabaja een rol. (P.
