Description
Nederlands: Negatief. Er zat veel variatie in de duur van het groeiseizoen van de rijst, vooral omdat de ene variëteit nu eenmaal sneller rijpt dan de andere. Sommige landrassen konden al met vier maanden geoogst worden, andere moesten wel zes maanden blijven staan. Daarnaast was van invloed of een variëteit op sawahs of op droge gronden verbouwd werd, terwijl bovendien de hoogte van de bouwgronden een rol speelde. De oogst, doorgaans het werk van vrouwen, wordt op de foto met een rijstmesje (ketam; op Java ani-ani) uitgevoerd. Elders op Sumatra (en in de Minahassa) gebeurde het met sikkels (sabit), wat natuurlijk veel sneller ging. (P. Boomgaard, 2001). Oogsten met de kêtam, een rijstmesje, Karohoogvlakte
