Nederlands: Repronegatief. Behalve op Java kwam deze boom (Barringtonia acutangula) in de kuststreken van de hele Archipel voor, evenals op het vasteland van Azië (bijvoorbeeld India, Thailand). Het hout was niet zo slecht als dat van de meeste Barringtonia-soorten. Het werd gebruikt voor het bouwen van boten, huizen, bruggen en meubelen en voor het maken van rijststampers. De bast van de boom levert een vergif voor vissen en tannine (looistof). Overigens kwam de aanwezigheid van een stof om vissen te vergiftigen de overheid slecht uit, want juist in de meren van Koetai probeerde zij achteruitgang van de visstand tegen te gaan. (P.
