Nederlands: Repronegatief. In de streken waar Islam en Christendom nog niet waren doorgedrongen, zoals de Mentawai Eilanden, stonden dansen doorgaans in het teken van de pogingen om contact te leggen met de geesten van de voorouders. Zelfs op het al eeuwen geïslamiseerde Java komen er nog dansen voor die als relicten van de trancedans geïnterpreteerd kunnen worden. Op Siberoet werd (en wordt) er van tijd tot tijd een ritueel uitgevoerd dat wel een maand duurt, doorgaans met een sterfgeval als aanleiding. Middels het ritueel moesten de voorouders, vooral zij die niet zo lang geleden gestorven waren, worden uitgenodigd, onder meer om te voorkomen dat zij de zielen van de levenden vroegtijdig tot zich zouden roepen.
