Description
English: Abstinence plaque. Inscription in Chinese and Manchu. Made of porcelain with polychrome enamel decoration. Made in: Jingdezhen, ca. 1800. Painted porcelain. Length: 2.20 inches

Width: 1.70 inches.

It was a requirement for abstinence for three days prior to worshipping of ancestors, Heaven or other gods. Donated by: Sir Augustus Wollaston Franks
