English: The main transmission electron micrograph shows a section of a gill epithelium from a pilchard infected with pilchard herpesvirus. The inserts (from top) shows a) pilchard herpes virus prepared using negative contrast electron microscopy and b) a higher magnification of a pilchard herpesvirus within the gill epithelium.
