English: Grumman F6F Hellcat fighters on fire aboard the U.S. Navy escort carrier USS Admiralty Islands (CVE-99), 20 July 1945. An aircraft attempting to land lost a fuel tank and set the deck and three F6F on fire. Admiralty Islands was handling replacement aircraft for the fleet carriers. |
