Un des deux cadrans solaires du Narivalaya Yantra, un des instruments du Jantar Mantar

Ce cadran en ciment est dans le plan de l'équateur, au centre la tige en fer pointe vers le pôle sud. Les graduations sont en heures et minutes.

Les 21 mars (le soleil est dans l'hémisphère nord) et le 23 septembre (le soleil est dans l'hémisphère sud) sont les jours d'équinoxe solaire, c'est pourquoi deux cadrans solaire doivent être utilisés selon la période de l'année.
