Description
Français : Séquoia géant place de la Résistance à Caen (Calvados). Sur une plaque commémorative au pied de l'arbre est inscrit: Séquoia géant (Sequoiadendron giganteum) Cet arbre provenant des Montagnes Rocheuses planté au printemps 1954 fut offert à la ville de Caen par la ville de San Francisco en Californie pour rappeler les liens de fidèle amitié entre les deux villes. A l'initiative de Charles Gassion, citoyen américain né à Caen, une collecte de solidarité populaire fut organisée à San Francisco au lendemain de la Seconde Guerre mondiale. Cette collecte aida la ville de Caen à rebâtir son Office Municipal de la Jeunesse.
