Rückseite: ΜΗΤΡΟΠΟ - ΚΑΙCΑ[PΕΙ]ΑC -/ ΕΙC ΕΩ/ΝΑ ΤΟΥ/C ΚΥΡΙΟΥ // ΕΤΟ ΙΓ. Berg Argaios, darunter Tempel mit zweisäuliger Front und Stern im Giebel. Zwischen den Säulen eine dreizeilige Aufschrift. Im Abschnitt Jahr 13. Kommentar: Ende der Umschrift der Vorderseite auch mit AVΓ möglich. Friedländer (1882) las den zwischen den Tempelsäulen platzierten Inschriftenteil folgendermaßen: ΕΙC ΘΑ/ΝΑΤΟY/C ΚΥΡΙOY. Davon ausgehend bezog er die Prägung auf den Tod des Kaisers Severus im 13. Jahr von Caracallas Mitregentschaft (211 n. Chr.). Dagegen wandte sich Pick (1898): Die Angabe eines Kaisertodes im Plural und auch das jugendliche Gesicht Caracallas würden gegen einen Bezug auf den Tod des Severus sprechen. Vor allem aber führte Pick eine alternative und überzeugendere Lesung an, wodurch die Deutung als Sterbemünze hinfällig wurde. Pick verwies darauf, dass auf der Prägung eine weit verbreitete Huldigungsformel verwendet wurde, die sich mit der gemeinsamen Herrschaft von Severus und Caracalla verbinden lasse. Ob sich die Münze dabei auf das 13. Jahr des Caracalla (210/211 n. Chr.) bezieht oder auf das des Severus (205/206 Chr.), ließ Pick dabei offen. Literatur: J.
