Description
English: Photograph of Caleb S. Pratt 1832-1861. Mr. Pratt was born in Massachusetts but moved to Lawrence, Kansas in 1854 with the New England Emigrant Aid Company, an anti-slavery group. He was Commissioned Second Lieutenant of Company D of Kansas 1st Infantry Regiment in June, 1861 and was killed in the battle of Wilson's Creek, Missouri on August 10, 1861. The city Pratt, Kansas and the county Pratt County, Kansas are named for him. This photograph was probably taken shortly before his move to Kansas
